Job Title Chaplain (35 Hour) Muslim

Overview The Connecticut Department of Correction (DOC) is expanding the Religious Services Department and hiring Chaplains to provide spiritual services to incarcerated individuals in Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities

Administer rites and sacraments; prepare and deliver sermons.

Counsel individuals, families, and visiting clergy.

Collaborate with facility staff on religious concerns.

Conduct worship services during holidays and other religious observances.

Maintain accurate records and reports; participate in team meetings.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited three‑year postgraduate theological seminary or a Master of Divinity degree.

Completion of all formal religious training required by a recognized religious denomination.

One year pastoral experience or equivalent within a recognized religious denomination.

Ordination or commissioning by a religious body and ongoing endorsement by an acceptable denominational authority.

Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license (may be required). May be required to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) experience.

Experience working with diverse and at‑risk populations and multiple faith traditions.

Ability to keep records, manage schedules, and work independently in a team environment.

Training All selected candidates will attend a 14‑week Training Academy in Cheshire, CT.
