Pay Base pay: $64,796.00/yr

Job Description University Police Officers enforce all New York State and local laws and the Student Code of Conduct on the grounds of State University of New York. The successful candidate will be actively involved in campus communities, activities, and duties to include:

Educating community members on personal safety, risk awareness, crime prevention, alcohol awareness, sexual assault prevention, and other community safety issues.

Preparing shift‑summary reports, logs, and records covering criminal or unusual events and other security‑related activities.

Responding to incidents to halt crimes in progress, arrest violators, maintain order, and arrange for medical care of injured persons.

Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic and enforcing vehicle and traffic laws to prevent dangerous situations.

Building positive relationships with campus community members; initiating conversations with students, faculty, and staff and responding with assistance.

Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements

Reachable score on the NYS Civil Service University Police Officer 1 exam list.

Permanent appointment with one year of service as a University Police Officer 1 at a SUNY, or a title eligible for transfer.

For reinstatement, prior state service at a SUNY in the University Police Officer 1 title.

Visa sponsorship is not available. Applicants requiring sponsorship are not eligible.
