Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist - Springfield, MA
We are looking for a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Springfield, MA. Your focus will be on preventative safety, regulatory compliance, and partnering with site teams to maintain a safe workplace.
Base pay range
$70,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (EPA, OSHA, DOT).
Maintain accurate records of waste generation, manifests, and disposal activities.
Conduct regular inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and implement corrective actions as needed.
Coordinate with certified vendors for waste transportation and disposal.
Develop, schedule, and deliver safety training sessions for employees, including new hire orientation and annual refresher courses.
Ensure training content meets OSHA standards and company policies.
Track and maintain training records in the EHS management system.
Promote a culture of safety through toolbox talks, signage, and employee engagement initiatives.
Serve as the primary contact for workplace injury reporting and investigation.
Coordinate with HR and insurance providers to manage workers' compensation claims.
Monitor return-to-work programs and ensure compliance with medical restrictions.
Analyze injury trends and recommend preventive measures to reduce incidents.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
0-4+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to conduct training and engage employees at all levels.
