Summary of Job Duties As a Student Employee in the field of Hematology, you will play a crucial role in supporting the operations and research activities within our hematology department. This position offers an invaluable opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a laboratory setting, working alongside experienced professionals in the field.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Must be enrolled in UAMS Medical Laboratory Sciences Program.

Responsibilities

Rotate and replace stored stock in the Core Lab.

Notify supervisor of inventory levels and identify items to be ordered.

Evaluate specimens for adherence to lab requirements for testing, including adequate identification, sample container types, sample volume, and centrifugation.

Set up specimens for testing by bench techs by placing them in appropriate racks and storage conditions according to the daily pending lists.

Maintain refrigerators, freezers (defrost as needed, rotate stock, dispose of expired items).

Assist with the specimen‑tracking system.

Organize and clean workspaces.

Screen calls to the lab and direct them to the appropriate section as needed.

Call the critical results to the appropriate caregiver and document per policy.

Ensure adequate supplies required for daily operations are available at the workbench by restocking inventory and refilling water containers with filtered water.

Salary Information $19.00 per hour
