Position Summary The University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (SREL) and Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources are seeking a full‑time (40 hr/week), temporary Research Technician to support monitoring forest fuels. The ideal candidate will have experience in wildland fire, including a current “red card” certification, and knowledge of standard wildland fire management program requirements, methods, and procedures. The position requires strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and basic laboratory and data management skills. Duties are performed under stressful and adverse operating conditions such as long work hours, heavy workloads, and harsh outdoor conditions.

Qualifications
Experience in wildland fire, including a current “red card” certification
Knowledge of standard wildland fire management program requirements, methods, and procedures
Knowledge of fire behavior, hazards, and accepted fire safety practices and procedures
Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
Basic laboratory and data management skills
Ability to perform duties under stressful and adverse operating conditions
Physical Demands This is a field position. Outdoor working conditions can occasionally be harsh (i.e., hot and humid). Driving as needed to complete job duties.
