Position Summary This is a technician position at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory (SREL). The incumbent(s) will assist UGA MS students with field and laboratory research, focusing on ecotoxicological studies of amphibians and reptiles. Tasks include trapping and handling organisms in the field, setting up experiments, collecting and entering data, and aiding in the metal analysis of tissues. The technician may also support ongoing monitoring projects, such as analyzing camera trap footage and acoustic recorder files.
Duties & Responsibilities
Field work for trapping/collecting amphibians and reptiles – 25%
Assist with set up, running, and data collection for ecotoxicology experiments – 50%
Data entry and management – 15%
Additional office work such as camera trap footage analysis – 10%
Physical Demands Lift at least 50 pounds and work outdoors up to 8 hours a day; attention to detail, familiarity with data entry, willingness to handle amphibians and snakes, and ability to work long hours in wet and/or hot conditions.
