Warehouse Supervisor
General Description
This position manages the services and logistical operations related to college property, ensures the receiving, tagging, and distribution of goods are efficiently and consistently executed, and ensures compliance with all state and agency property control policies. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional service to Northern Virginia Community College faculty, staff, and students, supporting the College’s mission through streamlined operations and superior customer service.
This position leads the day-to-day operations of shipping, receiving, and distribution of goods to the College to maintain essential operations. This position provides strategical support to the inventory, surplus, and storeroom operations as well as other Warehouse duties as needed.

Duties and Tasks
Supervise, train, and cross-train warehouse services staff to ensure operational excellence and adaptability across receiving and distribution functions.
Manage all processing and distribution services, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods and mail throughout the College.
Direct the mail delivery team, optimizing routes for efficiency and reliability.
Provide logistical support, including backup approval for campus storekeeper functions and inventory management.
Oversee and maintain the College Administration Records Archives and the efficient operation of the Mail Meter Machines, receiving and inbound tracking systems & Send Suite Systems.
Ensure timely receiving and tagging of assets, eVA receiving reports and the submitter of receiving documentation, as required.
Perform daily postal services operation (USPS & intercampus).
Serve as liaison with the Accounts Payable Office to acquire payment information for supporting all fixed asset receiving transactions.
Prepare reconciliations reports and perform analysis for research to proactively identify potential fixed assets received but not reported to the Property Control Office.
Ensure that all warehouse operations are performed in a safe, secure and sanitary manner.
Furnish logistical and support services and act as backup approver for the Campus Storekeeper for College e-forms and College Staff inventory.
Make regular requests from employees for updates and input on college decisions and share feedback with supervisors for inclusion in the NOVA Brief.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
KSAs Good communication skills, including the ability to read, write and verbally communicate, are required for interacting with all levels of the college administration, facility staff, vendors, and carrier representatives. Ability to make decisions and act quickly to coordinate schedules, manage customer relations, and allocate resources to meet dynamic customer and logistical needs. Working knowledge of USPS rules and regulations. Knowledge of warehouse operations safety rules and regulations. Must be highly organized. Practical knowledge of governmental and higher education operations preferred. Computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum Work Experience Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and property management. Supervisory experience managing staff and daily operational workflows. Experience with mailroom operations and logistics coordination. Experience providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Valid and clean driver’s license. Experience maintaining confidentiality and compliance with institutional processes.
Additional Considerations OSHA Fork‑Lift License. OSHA powered Material Handling equipment license – Instructor certification for OSHA powered industrial truck licensing. Previous experience in higher education mailroom or warehouse environment.
