Field Survey Technician at Pennoni.

Pennoni is hiring a full‑time, direct‑basis Field Survey Technician to support field surveying operations in the Newark, DE area. This individual will work on Transportation, Industrial, and Land Development projects, contributing to a variety of surveying initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

Adjust and operate surveying instruments (prisms, total stations, GPS, electronic distance‑measuring equipment, auto‑levels, etc.).

Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches, and data‑collection files.

Utilize rods for bench loops and cross‑section elevations.

Position targets for operators to sight angles, distances, and elevations.

Search, stake, and recover sectional & property corners and other survey monumentation.

Perform manual labor such as cutting brush, carrying materials (stakes, rebar, etc.), and staking survey monumentation.

Conduct various surveying tasks: topographic surveys, boundary surveys, construction stakeouts, etc.

Work with a variety of clients and projects, including industrial and government facilities.

Perform other assigned surveying tasks as needed.

Basic Requirements

High School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least one year of professional experience in field land surveying and/or construction.

Associate’s degree in Surveying Technology or an equivalent discipline (recent or upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply).

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Will pass a background check and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

Formal training in land surveying or a related field (especially civil engineering technology).

Experience in physically demanding field roles.

Experience with modern survey methods and technologies.

Proficiency with survey tools (total stations, HDLS, GIS, RTS, GPS, Leica Geosystems hardware/software, high‑definition laser scanning).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; CAD exposure is a plus.

Self‑motivated, capable of independent work while effectively prioritizing multiple assignments.

Effective teamwork with minimal supervision.

Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
