About The Program The University of Tennessee Medical Center’s Transplant & Cellular Therapy (TCT) Program continues to expand rapidly, driven by increasing patient volumes, new therapy approvals, and growing regional demand for advanced cellular therapy services. As East Tennessee’s only comprehensive transplant and cellular therapy center, our team provides a full spectrum of care, including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, CAR‑T therapy, and tumor infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy. This position supports the next phase of our program’s growth as we continue to build capacity and elevate the patient experience.

Position Summary The TCT RN Coordinator serves as a vital link between patients, families, and the multidisciplinary clinical team. This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the patient’s therapy preparation, including pre‑transplant testing, insurance authorization requirements, donor and autologous stem cell collections, and inpatient admissions for transplant or cellular therapy. The RN Coordinator ensures that each patient’s care pathway progresses efficiently, safely, and in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.

This role requires strong organizational skills, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple therapy timelines simultaneously while collaborating with the broader TCT team to optimize clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate pre‑therapy evaluations, diagnostic testing, and consults to meet insurance and medical requirements.

Facilitate and monitor stem cell collection processes, including scheduling for autologous and allogeneic donors.

Organize admissions and discharges for patients undergoing transplantation or cellular therapy.

Serve as a key point of contact for patients and caregivers throughout the treatment journey, ensuring timely communication and education.

Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, apheresis, and infusion staff to maintain seamless continuity of care.

Support program initiatives in quality improvement, accreditation readiness, and workflow optimization.

Position Qualification

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an accredited institution.

Licensure: Current or eligible for Tennessee RN licensure.

Experience (Preferred)

Oncology, hematology, or transplant nursing experience.

Background in care coordination or case management strongly preferred.

Skills

Demonstrated ability to multi‑task and manage multiple patient therapy plans simultaneously.

Ability to work independently while maintaining strong alignment with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to accuracy and follow‑through.
