Senior Buyer A leading aerospace and defense manufacturer is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join its growing supply chain team. This position plays a critical role in sourcing and procuring complex components and services that support both production and new product development programs.
Responsibilities
Manage the full procurement cycle, from initial requirements through supplier delivery.
Develop sourcing strategies, issue competitive bids, and negotiate agreements to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, and mitigate risk.
Purchase a variety of items including machined parts, electronic components, raw materials, and outsourced manufacturing services.
Collaborate with engineering and proposal teams to provide accurate cost estimates for new business opportunities.
Recommend inventory strategies such as Kanban and other lean fulfillment methods.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including government contracting requirements.
Prepare cost and price analysis to support audit and documentation standards.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field.
5-8 years of purchasing experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in aerospace and defense.
Familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations and government contracting practices.
Experience with low-volume R&D procurement and small-to-medium production runs.
Knowledge of ERP systems and lean manufacturing principles.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10%).
