Temporary Research Technician – Cotton Breeding
Essential Job Duties Temporary employee will be part of the cotton breeding and genetics research team.
Duties include:
Making crosses in the field
Selfing cotton flowers in the field
Harvesting, ginning and acid delinting cotton samples
Seed preparation for storage
Planting and helping to grow plants in the greenhouse and fields
Perform day‑to‑day activities of greenhouse care and maintenance
Assist post docs, grad students and research specialists while collecting phenotypic data and tissue samples from the greenhouses and cotton fields
Perform lab‑based analyses including DNA isolation

Requirements and Preferences Minimum Experience/Education:
Combination of training and experience required to perform the duties.
Department Required Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative research environment
Must be computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data entry tools
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
BS in Plant Sciences, Agriculture, Biology or related field
Background in plant care, with experience in general biology and/or agriculture
Required License or Certification:
Valid driver’s license (valid NC Driver’s License required).
Recruitment Details Anticipated Hiring Range:
$16‑$18/hr
