Utility Billing Service Clerk

Job Summary This position is responsible for maintaining accurate utility billing records and processes for the City’s water, water reclamation, garbage, and landfill services. This role utilizes specialized software to process bills, manage delinquent accounts and maintain communication with customers regarding billing and serving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Schedule and manage appointments for Utility Field personnel, coordinating communications for new service requests, on/off services, emergencies, and restoration calls.
Update utility billing software with move orders, automatic payment plans, daily cash receipts and delinquent accounts.
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of customer utility billing records.
Process daily final bills, weekly delinquent accounts, utility billing, and bulk mailings.
Operate specialized utility meter reading software. Generate, review and correct reports to ensure accuracy.
Maintain inventory and distribution records for water meters and related equipment.
Assist with inquiries related to utility billing and services.
Answer questions related to city demographics and City ordinance related to rates andfees.
Process hydrant meter orders.
Qualifications
High school Diploma or equivalent required.
Valid Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days from date of hire required.
Two years of relevant customer service and basic accounting experience preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
