Position Details: Working Title: Temporary Service/Maintenance- Chowdhury 4. Department: CAES-Plant Pathology. Location: Tifton Area. Start Date: 02/01/2026. Closing Date: Open Until Filled. Salary: Advertised. Anticipated Start Date: 02/01/2026.
Duties / Responsibilities
Lead and conduct laboratory research on plant diseases, including media preparation, pathogen isolation, DNA extraction, molecular testing, gel electrophoresis, and purification of samples for long-term storage. (40%)
Collect soil samples from field, planting, and harvesting crops, maintain field trials, greenhouse plants, cultures, and greenhouse experiments. (30%)
Extract nematodes from soil samples and enumerate nematode egg populations. (20%)
Contribute to the preparation of research and extension publications, extension trainings, reports and PowerPoint presentations. (10%)
Qualifications
Laboratory and greenhouse research experience related to plant science or plant pathology.
Basic knowledge in scientific and mathematical concepts (e.g., serial dilution, plant physiology, and microbiology).
Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
Attention to detail, punctuality, and perseverance.
