Job Summary The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture Food and Environment, department of Horticulture seeks a candidate with strong management, and organizational skills to serve as the Budget Officer. The Horticulture department discovers new knowledge, develops and evaluates new technologies and appropriate use of environmental resources for horticultural crop production and utilization. The Budget Officer is a valuable member. The Budget Officer helps to ensure the success of the department by supporting the Department Chair, faculty, staff and students with activities related to the business operations. The position manages all day-to-day business operations for the department.
About the Role This position is responsible for human resources, fiscal management, and oversight of administrative tasks ranging from payroll, purchasing, to budgeting, forecasting and logistical support. Additionally, the position coordinates all recruitment and hiring procedures for the department. The department is committed to promoting work-life balance by offering hybrid work arrangements that allow for some amount of remote work.
