NATURAL RESOURCES/VEGETATION MANAGEMENT SEASONAL
The Linn County Conservation Department has 2 temporary (full-time) openings available for the 2026 summer season (June-August). These positions are based at the Linn County Conservation Wanatee Park Shop and will support Natural Resource and Vegetation Management related work.
Hourly Wage: $16.00 per hour
Essential Functions Natural Resource and Vegetation Management activities such as establishment and maintenance of native forest, prairie, and wetland ecosystems. Primary job duties will focus on the removal and management of invasive species using mechanical and chemical means, such as chainsaws, backpack sprayers, and UTV spray units. Other activities could include tree planting and maintenance, prairie installation, wetland plant establishment, trail maintenance, GIS mapping, and other park or natural area maintenance tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment.
Random drug tests during employment may be required.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be at least 18 years old at time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to obtain a Commercial Pesticide License within one month of employment. Assistance in obtaining this license will be provided by County staff.
Ability to accurately identify native and invasive species.
Shift Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
