Location: Sea Island Company, St. Simons Island, GA
Basic Job Function Assist the Horticulturalist and Team members in all aspects of the Flower installation department duties required to ensure proper installations and maintenance techniques of seasonal color flower beds and decorative containers for all company properties and retail clients. Uphold and ensure proper safety procedures and techniques for the department to meet all safety requirements.
Use of Company Vehicle Designated to drive a company vehicle
Minimum Requirements
Minimum three (3) years experience preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent credentials
Must be trainable in knowledge of plant identification, annuals, perennials, small trees and shrubs
Must be trainable in proper planting and flower maintenance techniques, flower beds, gardens and in proper plant selection and bed layout
Must be trainable in color combinations and proper plant selection for container compositions and design (will train to meet our requirements and expectations)
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Valid Georgia Driver’s License (Required)
Must have a favorable driving history
Company policy requires that one must be 21 years of age or older to drive a company vehicle and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review
Must have ability to courteously present information to people in one-on-one and group situations

Tasks/Responsibilities
Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
Must act in an appropriate and professional manner/contact with guest, members and retail clients
Monitor moisture levels and water all flowers in beds and containers as needed
Groom flower beds and containers by pulling weeds and through proper pinching back and pruning techniques
Identify flowering annuals & perennials and detect weeds
Apply fertilizers as directed by supervisor to keep beds and containers healthy, floriferous, and uniform in growth
Follow prepared maintenance or planting schedule, and learn to properly record materials used and time spent for each homeowner or company property, using material and time sheets
Remove spent flowers and properly prepare beds/containers for new plantings
Monitors for hot spots and disease reporting any issue to the supervisor
Operate garden tiller
Help with unloading delivery trucks, and/or unpacking plant material if needed
Load, transport, and unload materials (plants, soils, mulches, containers, etc.) needed at installation site
Plant annuals, perennials, small shrubs, and vines using proper fertilizer and planting techniques
Mulch and thoroughly water all new plantings
Properly clean work area after completing plant installation or maintenance service
Report all guest/member/homeowner/management concerns or requests to Supervisor/ Manager
Thoroughly inspects equipment prior to and after use insuring that all trash, dirt, clippings, etc. are removed
Thoroughly inspects machinery for proper operation prior to use; reporting any malfunction to supervisor/mechanic as soon as possible
Ensure all equipment used is full of fuel and other necessary fluids prior to and after use
Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one’s ability
If applicable, complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues (solved or unsolved issues) and follow-up on issues as needed (if computer access is not available give information to admin support)
Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas
Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and department policies and procedures
Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
Willing and timely execution of other duties as delegated by leadership
