Overview Domtar is a leading producer of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue and wood products. The Sanford, Florida location seeks a full‑time, on‑site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to ensure compliance with environmental, safety and health laws, ISO 14001 standards, and internal company procedures.

Major Responsibilities

Policy Development & Implementation: Create and enforce safety policies to align with OSHA regulations and workers' compensation laws.

ISO 14001 Certification Maintenance: Lead initiatives to maintain the company's ISO 14001 certification.

Safety Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.

Incident Analysis: Investigate accidents and near‑misses, analyze root causes and develop prevention strategies.

Reporting & Analysis: Compile detailed safety performance reports, analyze trends and recommend improvements.

Training & Development: Design and deliver comprehensive training on safety and environmental topics.

Safety Culture Advocacy: Collaborate at all organizational levels to foster a strong safety culture.

Regulatory Compliance & Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry developments and ensure company practices remain compliant.

Record Keeping: Manage EHS records for new hires, visitors and contractors.

Facility Management Collaboration: Work with Plant Managers on housekeeping programs to enhance safety.

Support for GMP Procedures: Assist in managing Good Manufacturing Practices, including pest control and facility infrastructure.

Relationships:

Internal: Engage employees, supervisors and managers within Sanford operations.

Internal: Collaborate with Corporate Safety on company‑wide initiatives.

External: Consult with vendors, contractors and government bodies.

Educational & Professional Requirements

Degree: Bachelor’s in environmental health and safety or related field.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing or industrial EHS role.

Certifications: ISO certifications in Quality and Environmental Management are desirable.

Bilingual: Proficiency in English and Spanish (written and oral) preferred.

Skills and Competences

Leadership: Ability to lead initiatives, set clear goals and enforce policies.

Physical Requirements

Work time spent standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, grasping, climbing, reaching, tasting, smelling and using a computer.

Lifting of up to 10 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Vision: Normal color perception and computer (LCD) use.

Work Environment The position involves working in both office and production areas with variable temperature extremes, high noise, particulate matter and dust. Personal protective equipment will be required in the production areas.
