Research Associate

position at the University of Southern California’s Saito Laboratory.

A Research Associate position is available immediately in the Saito laboratory to study innate immunology against human pathogenic viruses and bacteria in the context of liver diseases. Our laboratory utilizes cell biology, virology, genetics, molecular biology, and systems biology. The ideal applicant will be a hardworking, creative, and highly self‑motivated researcher interested in pathogen‑host interaction, liver diseases, inflammation, and immunity.

Responsibilities

Develop, lead, and conduct highly technical research projects under the PI's guidance, including identifying research questions, designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, and providing interpretations.

Serve as a lead author for publications and conference presentations.

Operate laboratory equipment and use computer/research/office software for data analysis.

Contribute to laboratory quality control, including preparation of experimental materials, maintenance of protocols, safety guidelines, and animal protocols.

Qualifications

PhD or close to completion in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, Biology, or a relevant field.

4–6 years of wet‑lab experience (including PhD training) in immunology, pathogen‑host interactions, cell biology, and biochemistry.

Significant experience in molecular biology, in vitro and in vivo (mouse) experiments, biochemistry, protein assays (Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, gel analysis), nucleic acid techniques (cloning, PCR, RT‑qPCR, RNA synthesis, transfection, extraction, gene overexpression/silencing), and microscopic analysis (fluorescent staining, immunohistochemistry, light microscopy, image analysis).

Proficiency with laboratory equipment and computer/research/office software for experimental data analysis.

Minimum 1 year of related research experience and advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures, and analysis methods.

Additional Information

Annual salary: $70,745.28.
