Role description Arcadis is seeking an Industrial Hygiene and Safety Professional to join our Sustainable Operations team in the Novi, Michigan office. This role will consist of approximately 75% field work and 25% office work. Projects will primarily involve asbestos, lead‑paint, hazardous building materials, indoor air quality/mold, IH exposure monitoring, building characterization assessments, soil/water sampling, project monitoring/oversight, and report preparation. Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience and possess the necessary licenses and credentials to complete the work. Arcadis will provide specific training.
As a consultant with Arcadis you will work with a dynamic team, gain experience in diverse environmental projects, and mentor existing staff to support the growth of Industrial Hygiene Services.
Role accountabilities
Complete asbestos and lead‑paint surveys and abatement projects, indoor air and mold investigations, mold/water damage remediation projects, ventilation assessments, and the development and review of health and safety plans (HASPs).
Work in a client‑oriented consulting environment with focus on industrial hygiene practice, specifically asbestos, lead‑paint, hazardous building materials management, indoor air quality and mold evaluations, and chemical exposure assessments.
Be mentored by senior members of the EH&S consulting discipline from a technical and business perspective.
Mentor and assist junior level staff members within the Industrial Hygiene group.
Perform inspections/surveys for asbestos, lead, mold (water intrusion), IAQ, and other regulated building materials.
This role requires willingness to travel as needed, including overnight trips, a valid driver’s license, passing a medical exam, being medically cleared to wear a negative pressure respirator, and lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. of equipment throughout an eight‑hour shift.
Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in a science‑related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
Minimum of five years of experience in the professional services or consulting business.
State‑specific asbestos training and licensure.
Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification.
Experience with report preparation.
Industry‑recognized certification in industrial hygiene (e.g., CIH, IHT) and/or indoor environmental or air quality consulting (e.g., CIEC, CIAQP).
NIOSH 582 training.
