Initial appointment estimate $70,977. See Unit 18 Lecturer table for the full range. Academic year appointments subject to normal academic review. Salary prorated in accordance with instructional workload calculation.

Position Description Applicants internal to the UCM Department of Biological Sciences who had an appointment in 2024-2025 and apply by the initial review date will be considered prior to all other applicants.

The School of Natural Sciences anticipates hiring full and part‑time lecturer positions to teach the following subjects in AY 2025–2026:

Biology Today

Cancer Genetics and Tumor Biology

Cells, Tissues and Organs

Introduction to Organismal Biology

General Virology

Introduction to Molecular Biology

Math Modeling for Biology

Microbial Evolution

Molecular Basis of Healing and Disease

Molecular Immunology

Nutrition

Object Oriented Programming for Biology

The Cell

Other courses as needed

In addition to teaching, the instructor will evaluate student work and exams, calculate and post grades, and hold weekly office hours.

This is a limited‑term appointment under the Lecturers Unit agreement between the University of California and the American Federation of Teachers. Terms and conditions are subject to UC policy and the collective bargaining agreement. Appointments for AY 2025/2026 and/or Fall 2025 semester are reviewed in April, and for Spring 2026 semester in October. The posting will remain open through February 2026.

Qualifications

Advanced degree in Biology or related field and experience teaching at the college or university level is required.
