Landscape Specialist I City of San Marino

Job Summary Maintain campus lawns, flowerbeds, trees, shrubs, ice and snow removal, and drainage during inclement weather.

Key Responsibilities

Mow, edge, trim, and fertilize campus lawns.

Prepare and sow seed, lay sod, and maintain surfaces.

Operate lawn maintenance and snow removal equipment such as walk‑behind mowers, riding mowers, push mowers, string trimmers, edgers, lawn sweeper, verticutter, snow plows, shovels, ice scrapers, and chemical melters.

Remove debris and litter from hard‑surface and lawn areas; empty trash receptacles; clear drains during rain and snow melt.

Prune, irrigate, weed, and fertilize trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds under direction.

Assist snow team leader with removal of snow and ice, and maintain surface drainage during heavy weather.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

At least 6 months of experience in grounds maintenance, landscape/lawn maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture.

Ability to operate landscape equipment, vehicle‑mounted snow removal equipment, and recognize disease and insect problems on landscape material.

Knowledge of turf care, woody ornaments, and annual flowers preferred.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (overtime available)
