Avionics Cable Harness Design Engineer III - New Glenn Advanced Upper Stage (Fixed-Term)

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Avionics Engineer to lead the design, fabrication, and qualification of space‑flight electrical harnesses for the New Glenn launch vehicle. The role is a 12‑15 month fixed‑term assignment with full benefits. Responsibilities

Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high‑speed data signals. Select harness components, hardware, connectors, backshells, cable, and wire. Apply EMI/RFI and harness shielding principles. Create 3D routed harness data files using Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling and Routed System Designer (RSD). Generate 2D flat harness drawings from 3D data sets. Design and integrate harness support brackets. Develop design configurations, trade studies, and technical guidance for hardware installation. Support assembly, installation, and testing of cables and harnesses. Maintain activity schedule and technical status reports. Identify opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings. Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for the aerospace industry. Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and Routed System Designer (RSD). Experience with wire derating analysis. Familiarity with IPC/WHMA‑A‑620A and NASA‑STD‑8739.4 harness standards. Strong electrical and mechanical design and integration skills using 3‑D CAD software. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Pro/E Piping. Experience with high‑end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing. Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes. Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems. Compensation

WA applicants: $126,898.00 – $177,656.85. Benefits
