Avionics Cable Harness Design Engineer III - New Glenn Stage 1 (Fixed-Term) Join Blue Origin as an Avionics Cable Harness Design Engineer III for the New Glenn launch vehicle program. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration, heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond.

As part of a small, hardworking and accomplished team of engineers, you will be in charge of engineering, designing, and installing electrical harnesses for various spaceflight systems. This hands‑on position involves all aspects of engineering, design, fabrication, installation, and test.

Responsibilities

Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication, and high‑speed data signal.

Select harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable, and wire.

Apply EMI/RFI shielding and harness design best practices.

Create 3D routed harness data files using Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling and Routed System Designer (RSD).

Produce harness detail and installation drawings, including 2‑D flat harness drawings from 3‑D data sets.

Design and integrate harness support brackets.

Support configuration development and trade studies.

Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.

Assist in assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.

Maintain and report on activity schedules and technical status.

Identify opportunities for cost, operational, and schedule improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree or higher in mechanical or a related engineering field.

7+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for the aerospace industry.

Proficiency with Creo, Windchill, and Routed System Designer (RSD).

Knowledge of wire derating analysis.

Familiarity with harness standards such as IPC/WHMA‑A‑620A and NASA‑STD‑8739.4.

Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3‑D CAD software.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Pro/E Piping and other high‑end CAD routing software (e.g., Unigraphics NX).

Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.

Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.

Compensation Range

– CO applicants: $116,323.00–$162,851.85; WA applicants: $126,898.00–$177,656.85. Other location ranges may differ.
