Location & Compensation Rockford, IL – $90,000 – $100,000 (annual salary)

Job Summary The Test Equipment Engineer is a key member of a cross-disciplinary team driving the design, development and testing, and integration of aircraft high-lift actuation and flight control components and systems. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing test plans and procedures to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams—including design, systems, and manufacturing engineering—you will analyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of test methods and product quality.

Essential Job Functions Create and implement Acceptance Test Procedures for products based on product requirements and customer specifications. Provide technical expertise to cross‑functional teams and ensure compliance with aerospace standards defined in RTCA DO‑160 and DO‑178C. Drive innovation and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver high‑performance systems and components that meet safety, regulatory, and customer‑critical requirements. Assist in estimating resources required to complete projects including labor, materials, necessary skills and duration. Provide testability input to new product designs and guidance in the completion of qualification programs to ensure that goals and objectives are met. Develop test plans, write acceptance and qualification test procedures, conduct tests and generate test reports. Design and document both manual and automated test equipment to support engineering development and production (manufacturing) for new and existing programs. Provide guidance on system electrical design and software development to multidisciplinary teams. Oversee testing, simulation, and validation processes to ensure systems meet safety, performance, and reliability standards. Ensure work complies with company policies and processes. Other duties may be as assigned.

Required Competencies Education/Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in aerospace and test engineering. This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Preferred Qualifications Experience with DOORS management tool. Manual and automated test equipment development/programming experience with National Instruments LabVIEW is required. Experience with National Instruments Test Stand. Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD) is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be a self‑directed individual requiring minimal supervision. Must be experienced in developing test procedures and performing qualification testing to commercial and military specifications such as RTCA DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑704, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑810, etc., to support new products in development. Experienced with environmental testing (altitude, moisture, temperature, shock, vibration, EMI, etc.) and highly accelerated life testing (HALT). Must be able to work independently with common hand tools and bench‑top instruments. Experienced with electrical and mechanical test setups and test equipment. Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems and use of software to control data acquisition system. Must be able to communicate technical information, whether written or verbal, to other functional departments throughout the organization, including creation and participation in group presentations. Experience with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Strong project management and organization skills. Timeliness of estimates and reports for engineering projects. Strong communication skills with emphasis on technical writing and presentation. Leadership skills with strong customer presence. Physically build prototype hardware for test and evaluation. Must have the ability to function in a fast‑paced environment while performing multiple tasks. Participation in lean and safety activities for the site.
