Position Description
Immediate hiring for a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Orlando, Florida.
Hourly Pay: $28.50 per hour. Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700. Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter. Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days. Schedule: Monday‑Friday, weekends off. Hours: Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree or technical certifications (preferred).
Basic tools required.
Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance, oil changes, brake and tire work.
Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required).
Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred).
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred).
Other location‑specific certifications required (required).
Minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment.
Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check.
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance.
Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable.
Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
Replace defective components as instructed.
Work unsupervised on most tasks.
Perform facility maintenance duties.
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints once a task is assigned.
Utilize key functions of the shop management system and electronic documentation.
Adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
Access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
Support operations as required, including service island support.
Complete SBT III training within 180 days and complete required OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool courses within 365 days.
