Mission To maintain and repair all County vehicles and equipment to OEM standards or better; to provide safe and reliable transportation to all Mohave County Divisions and personnel that are required to utilize the vehicles and/or equipment.

About Us Fleet Services Division is a customer‑centered service organization that provides a wide range of services including vehicle maintenance and equipment‑related support services to all Mohave County departments. The division provides for all facets of vehicle/equipment diagnostics and repairs while providing a preventative maintenance program to assure dependability, availability, and safety of the fleet. Our warehouse provides parts for repairs to County vehicles/equipment and general use items in other County departments. Fuel dispensing operations at the County Service Center compound is available 24/7 for all County departments including after‑hours roadside assistance program for all Mohave County departments.

Equipment Services Technician

– 11 Steps 1‑8: $19.13 – $23.54/hr

Equipment Mechanic

– 14 Steps 1‑6: $22.15 – $25.67/hr

Equipment Mechanic Senior

– 16 Steps 1‑3: $24.42 – $25.90/hr

Work Schedule and Requirements

Monday – Friday – 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Weekends and holidays off.

Tools are to be provided and maintained at the employee's cost.

Must pass drug screen post offer.

Must possess the ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License within a six (6) month period from hire date.

Work may be subject to call‑back, on‑call status, and overtime and/or irregular schedules including weekends and holidays in the event of a possible weather‑related state of emergency.

Travel and Working Conditions

Travel throughout different county locations.

Work outdoors performing moderate to strenuous manual labor in varying weather conditions, including strong winds, extreme heat to extreme cold temperatures while performing service/repair work.

Use and safe operation of hand and power tools and equipment in cramped and contorted positions.

Exposure to exhaust fumes, chemical fumes, acid, oil, grease, hazardous materials, and loud noises from equipment.

Equal amount of time spent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, climbing ladders, and confined spaces.

Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs up to 50 lbs or more while operating heavy equipment.

Determine parts and materials required to replace, repair, rebuild, or overhaul and complete order form for required parts and materials.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions on all construction equipment, including, but not limited to, graders, dozers, loaders, rollers, power sweepers, backhoes, cranes, excavators, heavy and light trucks, single and tandem axle, and shop or field cars.

Diagnose, maintain, repair, rebuild, or overhaul vehicles and equipment components, including gas and diesel engines; air and hydraulic systems; brakes; 6, 12, & 24‑volt electrical systems; emission and fuel systems; front end suspension; heating and air conditioning systems; power‑shift transmissions; automatic and manual transmissions; driving axle; air valves; pumps and motors; and other engine and vehicle components.

Road test vehicles and operate equipment for diagnosis, troubleshooting, and confirmation of repair.

Commute to locations requiring servicing and repair assistance; diagnose and repair or install temporary measures.

Assist other mechanics in repairing vehicles and equipment as required, providing guidance and instruction.

In absence of supervisor, provide functional supervision to associate personnel; determine priority and scheduling of work assignments; evaluate service and repair work performed by subordinate personnel for adherence to established practices.

Perform regularly scheduled and preventive maintenance on automotive and heavy equipment vehicles and related equipment, including changing oil and filters, lubricants, and checking condition of belts, tires, and shocks in accordance with service manuals.

Maintain daily work records of work done, material used, and time spent.

Occasionally fabricate parts, hoses, and tools.

Maintain an adequate supply of materials, equipment, and tools required to fulfill work assignments.

Cleans, maintains, and services required equipment and tools used during performance of work assignments.

Keep work area clean.

Qualifications Equipment Services Technician – Entry Level

High School Diploma/GED (General Education Degree).

Two (2) years of education and/or experience in performing preventative maintenance on vehicles.

At least One (1) year experience in servicing heavy vehicles and heavy equipment.

Some apprentice experience in a skilled trade area and sufficient education to perform required arithmetic, and to read and write information associated with the craft work assigned.

OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Equipment Mechanic – Three‑Year Experience

High School Diploma/GED (General Education Degree).

Three (3) years successful experience in heavy equipment vehicle maintenance and repair as a Trades Helper or three (3) years as an Equipment Mechanic or related field involving maintenance, repair, including overhauls of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles and related equipment.

OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Equipment Mechanic Senior – Five‑Year Experience

High School diploma/GED (General Education Degree).

Five (5) years successful experience in heavy equipment and repair as an Equipment Mechanic or related field involving maintenance and repair, rebuilding, and overhauling of heavy equipment, vehicles, and related equipment.

OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

Methods, procedures, materials, equipment, and tools used for the maintenance and repair of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles and related equipment, including heavy gasoline and diesel powered equipment and industrial and construction equipment.

Heavy equipment hydraulics, electrical systems, drive lines, gas and diesel engine, steering, cooling and air conditioning system, and other related vehicle components of heavy equipment.

Performing all phases of automotive and equipment major repair including overhauls.

Safe, effective operation and maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment used in vehicle, heavy equipment, and related equipment diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, rebuilding, and overhauling.

Communicating and maintaining professionalism with the public, co‑workers, and work contacts.

Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems of heavy equipment vehicles.

Safely and effectively service, maintain, and repair assigned vehicles and equipment in accordance with standard repair, maintenance, operation, and safety procedures.

Overhaul and rebuild gas and diesel engines and other related components of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles and related equipment.

Provide instruction, training, and direction to subordinate personnel; prioritize, schedule, assign, and evaluate work assignments performed by subordinate personnel.

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date chronological records and documentation.

Interpret and apply established guidelines and procedures as provided in shop and service manuals.

Follow and interpret written and oral instructions and data generated from diagnostic and troubleshooting equipment.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associate personnel and personnel of other County departments.

Fulfill physical requirements of work assignments, including moderate lifting of 20‑50 pounds, utilizing physical exertion required to perform assignment and performing work assignments with the use of tools and equipment in cramped and contorted positions and in various terrains and varying weather conditions, including exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
