SBH Maintenance Engineer – Stonebreaker Hotel (Markham Hill) Hay Creek Hotels is seeking a self‑motivated Maintenance Engineer / Facilities Supervisor to oversee the maintenance of our new property. The role will support the operations of the Stonebreaker Restaurant (opening October 2024) and the Stonebreaker Hotel (opening January 2025) located in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The Stonebreaker, formerly the Pratt Place Inn, is a historic boutique hotel on 144 acres at the top of Markham Hill. The 18,900‑sq‑ft building will be renovated and will feature extensive F&B, outdoor dining, a private club lounge, a guest check‑in area, and a restored Pratt Place Barn venue. The property also includes nature trails available to guests.

Job Summary

Respond promptly to guest issues, maintain a complaint program, and address all work orders efficiently.

Oversee the proper operation and upkeep of all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, tile work, laundry, kitchen, refrigeration, lighting systems and specialized equipment.

Ensure compliance with city, state and federal codes, maintain permits and licenses for the entire facility.

Manage equipment purchases or leasing, service contracts, repairs and outsourcing of third‑party tradesmen; achieve budgeted capital and operating costs.

Supervise engineering/maintenance staff: scheduling, employee relations, coaching, evaluation, hiring & training, and lead through delegation and accountability.

Maintain department expenses within budget; evaluate third‑party bids, process invoices, manage accounts and produce accurate monthly checkbook accounting.

Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, guest rooms, restaurant, public areas, parking garage and other facilities.

Lead curb appeal, landscaping and grounds maintenance in all weather conditions.

Manage hotel safety, security and health programs in coordination with the local fire department and other emergency respondents; educate staff on energy conservation, security, safety, OSHA regulations, emergency procedures and fire alarm procedures.

Adhere to all health, sanitation, safety and security laws, policies and procedures.

Monitor departmental compliance with state and federal wage and hour employment laws.

Required Experience

3+ years of engineering/maintenance experience, hotel environment highly preferred.

Prior HVAC, electrical, plumbing or construction experience.

Familiarity with web‑based maintenance work order programs.

Basic Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Proven communication, leadership and management skills.

Willingness to be on‑call 24/7 for hotel emergencies.

Detail‑oriented with clean work habits.

Valid driver’s license.

Ability to multitask, prioritize and remain calm & hospitable.

Background check and/or DMV check may be required.
