Job Description The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the finance department with accurate and timely recording, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions. This role assists with maintaining the general ledger, preparing account reconciliations, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in day-to-day accounting operations and contributes to the accuracy of the organization’s financial reporting.

Job Responsibilities

Complying with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP.

Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.

Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.

Assist in the preparation of documentation for external and internal audits.

Provide support for special projects and process improvements within the finance department.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education

A high school diploma or GED.

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

1–3 years of experience in accounting or administrative finance preferred.

Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles.

Training The Staff Accountant candidate must go through documented training with a qualified trainer or otherwise appointed personnel and demonstrate competency in performing the job.

Skills

Knowledge of computers and software such as the Office 365 Suite, spreadsheet programs, use computer related software.

Respond to numerous emails and phone calls.

Sitting for extended periods of time.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Team player with strong organizational skills.

Able to handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously to meet goals and deadlines.

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Well organized with great time management skills to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to work well independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a high-pressure environment.

A person being transferred from within to this position must have worked in the area and demonstrated the required technical skills necessary to perform this job.
