Classification Title Human Resources Generalist III
Classification Minimum Requirements A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
HR Operations
Manages the Department of Surgery HR staff. Manages and ensures all internal departmental personnel actions such as hiring, separation, employee relations activities, immigration and other related HR requests are handled appropriately. Ensure alignment and compliance with COM and University policies, procedures and regulations.
Will ensure HR actions follow departmental approvals. In addition, they are responsible for ensuring the actions submitted to COM-HR, Employee Relations or other University entities are accurate.
Administer and maintain department HR records and files. Responsible for the department's payroll and leave processes, as well as department wide communication with employees. Will ensure HR staff have appropriate access to UF systems.
Will manage the department's process to ensure required trainings are completed.
Provide HR support by working closely with departmental leadership to help interpret policies, resolve employee-related issues, ensure consistent application of HR practices, and guide them through day‑to‑day HR processes and requirements, in close collaboration with COM-HR.
Actively assist colleagues, Director, Vice‑ Chairs and Chairman on special projects and other activities as requested. Support the Department Chair and Director by providing advice, formulating policy, problem solving, and ensuring the administrative infrastructure to carry out missions of the department.
Recruitment & Hiring
Will train and oversee the HR team on all hiring processes for the department's employees (faculty, housestaff, staff, OPS, STAS, etc.), and appointments.
This position will be responsible for the recruitment of department faculty and staff, including development of job descriptions, gaining approvals, managing the posting, removal and advertising processes, coordinating with COM-HR regarding benefits, onboarding, and orientation. They will coordinate with department leadership and COM-HR on employee compensation.
Coordinate with department finance regarding all aspects (compensation, start date, mission assignment) of a new hire.
Review and close positions which are not going to be filled.
UF Health Compliance & Credentialing
Act as the departmental liaison for the credentialing process. Ensuring all providers are properly credentialed before their start date and provider reappointments are processed. Any issues impacting initial or reappointments should be communicated to leadership.
Serves as liaison with the Self-Insurance Trust Office to ensure that the initial level of coverage for malpractice is secured.
Manage department's process to ensure the maintenance of all licensures and certifications needed, including FPPE, OPPE and DEA licensure.
General Administration
This position supports the P&T process for the Department of Surgery. They will work with faculty to ensure department, college and university deadlines are achieved.
Enter Faculty Assignment Report (FAR) information and Effort information for each semester.
Other duties as assigned
Expected Salary $70,000 - $80,000 Annually
Required Qualifications Qualifications refer to evidence-based or demonstrated knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences required for the role. For TEAMS positions the required qualifications should reflect Classification Minimum Requirements. For Faculty roles, these qualifications may reflect college-specific requirements needed for success in the role.
Preferred
Fluency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel and Word
Well-versed in UFHR rules and regulations
Working knowledge of UF systems: PeopleSoft/MyUFL, Enterprise Analytics, Pageup
