Construction Project Executive (Lexington, Kentucky)

is seeking a Construction Project Executive to lead complex distribution or industrial construction projects in Lexington, Kentucky.

Responsibilities Overall management of one large $200MM+ project or multiple complex projects, ensuring financial, schedule, risk, and relationship performance.
Project Administration
Facilitate customer and team meetings, document minutes, and track action items.
Hold startup meetings with appropriate team members.
Ensure systematic tracking of action items to support project requirements.
Oversee submittal reviews, status reports, closeout documents, and maintenance manuals.
Visit project sites regularly.
Financial Success
Monitor progress, identify early issues, and develop corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Operate within budgetary constraints and requirements.
Develop proposals and execution strategies, and report progress to leadership.
Ensure optimal purchasing of materials, subcontracts, equipment, and services.
Manage change orders and red file completion.
Review red files and cost reports with the Site Manager monthly.
Schedule Performance
Oversee development and maintenance of the master schedule.
Collaborate with Field Ops, A/E, and MEP to assess schedule progress and develop corrective measures.
Document and communicate any delays and justify extensions.
Risk Management
Ensure contractual terms are understood and decisions are made accordingly.
Meet safety, quality, scheduling, training, and profitability goals.
Develop risk management plans and assign monitoring responsibilities.
Assess effectiveness of plans and adjust with Field Ops, A/E, and MEP.
Oversee risk mitigation and monitor corrective action implementation.
Communicate consistent problem‑solving approach.
Relationship Management
Act as primary customer contact and account manager.
Develop relationship plans and coordinate with consultants.
Assess plan effectiveness and implement changes.
Demonstrate leadership qualities and Gray core values.
Maintain workflow continuity in case of staff changes.
Team Member Development
Ensure staff alignment with company vision and values.
Monitor team cohesion and develop action plans.
Mentor and train senior project managers, project managers, and support staff.
Collaboration
Maintain cooperative environment among engineering, design, and construction teams.
Communicate regularly with other Project Executives and leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college/university or equivalent experience.
Minimum seven consecutive years of profit & loss accountability on multiple projects.
Minimum five years managing design/build or hard‑bid projects across all disciplines.
Experience with lump‑sum, GMP, cost‑plus, and fee‑based contracting.
Proven track record of increasing project profitability.
Knowledgeable in engineering and design disciplines, including costs and fees.
Understanding of change impacts on cost, schedule, and operations.
Experience managing procurement/installation of equipment exceeding $2 million per project.
Ability to mentor and train project staff.
Experience developing aggressive schedules and preparing cost estimates for industrial projects.
Strong relationship building with owners, vendors, and stakeholders.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, technical publications, and regulations; write reports and business correspondence; present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, and customers; and understand complex financial information.
Mathematical Skills Basic business mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement conversions.
Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems, interpret written and oral instructions, and manage multiple variables.
Other Skills And Abilities Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, e‑mail); knowledge of scheduling and estimating applications.
