We are seeking a Parts Operations Manager to manage inventory, sales, and distribution of John Deere and all‑make parts at our branch location. This exempt position reports to the Director of Parts and focuses on exceeding company goals for parts sales and gross profit margins.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and manage the annual department business plan within the branch.
Manage operating and capital budgets to attain or exceed sales, financial and gross profit targets.
Assist in developing marketing strategy to sell products.
Train subordinates in sales techniques such as suggestive selling and closing skills.
Work with Parts Inventory Control Manager to ensure adequate inventory for internal and external customer needs.
Monitor and manage reporting programs to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information.
Attend training and parts meetings to stay current on new products and programs.
Collaborate with Product Support Manager in setting objectives and ordering plans to support the dealership’s marketing plan.
Maintain order cost and carrying charge calculations reflecting current market and economic conditions.
Ensure branch utilizes surplus return programs to manage inventory and obsolescence.
Audit the department’s inventory control performance monthly.
Develop and manage the execution of the Parts Strategic Business Plan.
Monitor department performance relative to parts sales, inventory management, and expense control.
Develop, communicate, and monitor effective department processes for customer satisfaction and efficiency.
Ensure adherence to company and customer data policies.
Actively manage inventory cycle counts, approve adjustments, and recommend policy changes.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license.
Industry experience.
Management experience.
Education
A degree in industrial equipment (construction, forestry) preferred.
Ongoing training provided.
Language Skills
Read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals.
Present information effectively and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Apply basic algebra, statistics, and geometry concepts.
Reasoning Ability
Solve practical problems and handle variable situations with limited standardization.
Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Work Environment The employee works in a service field setting with frequently changing temperatures, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
Physical Demands
Work using personal protective equipment, including respirators, welding shields, hard hats, vests, safety glasses, goggles, gloves.
Use full range of motion for back, arms, hands, fingers, legs (climbing, twisting, squatting, pushing).
Use hand tools, fuel hoses, lubrication systems on equipment.
Climb onto or down from mobile construction equipment, typically 3–4 feet.
Lift or carry loads greater than 50 lbs but less than 75 lbs.
Vision: close, distance, and color vision required.
Speak or hear at moderate noise levels.
