Job Purpose The Controller position is accountable for all the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting operations.

Duties and Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting

Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, provider compensation, benefit accounting, and fixed assets.

Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy of journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.

Maintain integrity of the chart of accounts and accounting system architecture.

Support the preparation of management reporting packages, financial analyses, and KPI dashboards for leadership review.

Strategic Accounting & Finance Support

Provide variance analyses and insights to explain financial performance and identify operational opportunities.

Partner with the CFO and FP&A team to support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.

Internal Controls & Compliance

Partner with the CFO to manage external audits, tax compliance, and third‑party relationships.

Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards (GAAP, IRS, and state healthcare regulations).

Coordinate external audits and serve as primary contact for auditors, lenders, and external advisors.

Oversee sales and use tax filings, property tax, and other regulatory filings as needed.

Process Improvement & Leadership

Evaluate and streamline accounting workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Partner with operations, business development and finance functions to improve processes that impact accounting.

Mentor and develop accounting and payroll team members, promoting accountability, accuracy, and professional growth.

Lead or assist in accounting software enhancements, system integrations, and automation initiatives including month‑end close process.

Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) department to ensure accurate financial reporting, optimize billing and collections processes, and support strategic initiatives aimed at improving cash flow.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA required.

Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller capacity for a private equity backed organization.

Experience in multi‑entity or multi‑location healthcare environment.

Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial systems (e.g., Sage Intacct or equivalent).

Strong background in M&A accounting, purchase accounting, post‑acquisition integration; preferred.

Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving ability.

Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and data analytics tools.

Sage Intacct experience preferred.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Working Conditions

Operates computers, scanners, telephones, and additional office equipment.

Work a full 8‑hour shift in an office medical setting.

Must wear appropriate dress code attire in accordance to company policy and procedures.

Able to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Minimal lifting required with maximum of 50 lbs.
