Our client, a nationally recognized high growth, multi‑site leader in home care services, is seeking a
Controller
to join their growing team in Waco, TX. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with a combination of in‑office and remote work. In addition to the flexible schedule, this role offers unlimited PTO.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance , the
Controller
plays a key leadership role in overseeing and advancing the company’s financial operations across all locations nationwide. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data while driving efficiency through process standardization, automation, and compliance initiatives.
The
Controller
will oversee all accounting functions including general ledger management, payroll operations, billing and collections, and audit readiness for external audit team. As a bridge between the corporate finance team and field offices, this is a high‑visibility role with strong advancement opportunities.
Responsibilities Accounting & Finance:
Oversee accurate, compliant payroll processing for employees across multiple states.
Direct the billing process for multiple revenue cycles, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Serve as the primary point of contact between office locations and the bookkeeping team.
Support automation and modernization of accounting & finance systems including Sage Intacct, Paylocity, and AxisCare to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local tax laws, including multi‑state filings.
Oversee all aspects of corporate and field‑level accounting, ensuring GAAP compliance and internal controls.
Prepare and process top level journal entries for month end close.
Lead month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes with accuracy and efficiency.
Manage balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and consolidation of multi‑location financial statements.
Prepare consolidated financial statements, including all intercompany entries and eliminations, to ensure accurate reporting across all entities.
Maintain integrity of the general ledger and ensure timely financial reporting.
Provide insight and recommendations to support strategic decision‑making and corporate planning.
Partner with the Senior Director of Finance on long‑term initiatives such as system implementations, acquisitions, and integrations.
Leadership & Team Development:
Supervise and mentor the accounting and bookkeeping team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
Define clear performance objectives and conduct regular evaluations to promote continuous improvement.
Partner with the Finance leadership to identify training needs and skill development opportunities within the department.
Lead departmental meetings and represent the Finance team at ownership‑led leadership sessions.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Master’s in Accountancy and/or CPA required.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a management or director‑level role.
Proven experience managing multi‑entity, multi‑location accounting operations.
Hands‑on understanding of large ERP and financial management systems and the ability to create functional reports within systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, SAP or similar).
Knowledge of HCM/HRaaS/HRIS platforms such as Paylocity, ADP, Paychex, Paycor, etc.
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Ability to thrive in a high‑growth, fast‑paced environment.
