in The Nines, a Luxury Collection Hotel located in the historic Meier & Frank Building in Portland. This role supports morning, swing, and overnight shifts in a LEED Silver‑certified environment where guest experience and meticulous financial oversight are paramount.
Responsibilities
Audit, balance, and report on all food and beverage outlets, including restaurants, lounges, banquets, and room service cash and credit operations; perform checks, over/short figures, tally sheets, deposits, counts, house charges, promotional posts, and reset registers.
Audit, balance, post, and report on front‑desk operations: room charges, phone calls, folio balances, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures, and deposits.
Prepare and verify room information, input statistics, and create income journal sheets for daily reports.
Close all bank ticket codes daily and run the final night audit ensuring revenue is balanced.
Conduct check‑in and check‑out procedures for arriving and departing guests, both in person and via computer, ensuring guest satisfaction and room readiness.
Maintain positive customer relations by staying informed about in‑house and local functions and providing timely assistance over the phone and in‑person.
Operate the PBX equipment, manage incoming/outgoing calls, schedule wake‑up calls, and page guests.
Assist with express check‑out duties as a Front Desk Clerk.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Accounting background preferred but not required.
Proficiency with personal computer, cash register, calculator, and basic accounting software.
Strong telephone and guest‑relations etiquette, moderate hearing, excellent vision for screen viewing, and clear speech for telephone communication.
Strong numerical literacy and ability to compile facts and figures.
Physical Demands
Approximately 90% of shift standing; occasional bending, kneeling, and carrying of files or office items up to 25 lbs.
Mobility required to reach all areas of the hotel.
Prolonged standing and working under fluorescent lighting at an indoor, climate‑controlled workstation.
Environment Workstation inside a 95% indoor climate‑controlled environment with fluorescent lighting.
