Job Summary The Dining Supervisor for Campus Concessions is responsible for overseeing daily operations across multiple high‑traffic event venues on campus. These include the Gene Polisseni Center, Gordon Field House, Judson Stadium, the Dave and Nancy Munson Amphitheater, and all food truck‑related events hosted at RIT. The supervisor ensures exceptional food quality and customer service by coordinating closely with student staff, fellow supervisors and managers, and external vendors. The role supports event logistics and fosters a positive guest experience at all concession locations.

Job Responsibilities

Supervise, direct, train, schedule, hire, and work with full‑time and student employees. Give clear and concise directions.

Open and/or close food service units and ensure they are operationally ready in accordance with established procedures; maintain proper security.

Provide excellent, friendly, sincere, and courteous service.

Place necessary orders for inventory and products.

Coordinate restocking across all venues and the storeroom.

Participate in planning related to budget, menus, pricing and operational procedures and objectives.

Assist manager in planning special functions and themed meals.

Monitor cashiers for proper cash handling and correct reading of cash register tapes.

Research and maintain creative merchandise displays and signage for units.

Perform duties of subordinate food service employees as necessary to keep the unit staffed and running.

Monitor food service equipment and arrange repair as necessary.

Handle customer complaints and follow through with necessary action.

Take complete management responsibility when manager is absent.

Assist with general office duties, including inventory, payroll, and record keeping.

Finalize cash sales at the end of applicable events and re‑balance cash drawers.

Administer weekly audits of cash safe and follow proper cash‑handling procedures.

Attend meetings and seminars as required.

Ensure compliance with all dining services expectations, including ServSafe, glove procedures and New York State and Monroe County Health codes.

Ensure that quality control, portioning and customer service standards are met.

Collaborate with other campus service departments (Facilities Management, Tech Crew, Production Services, etc.) to meet client needs.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule: Full‑time, minimum 40 hours per week across 12 months. Schedule is created two weeks in advance but may vary based on daily business needs and campus event demands. Flexibility is essential, especially during break weeks, summer sessions and intersession periods. Large institute events (e.g., Commencement, Imagine RIT Festival) may require additional hours and occasional overtime. The supervisor must be available for weekday, evening and weekend shifts, and days off are scheduled around campus events, with an effort to provide two consecutive days off per week whenever possible.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

1‑3 years of catering or restaurant experience.

1‑3 years in a supervisory position.

Ability to work in a team‑oriented environment and independently as needed.

Ability to multi‑task and work well in a high‑pressure environment.

Eligible to work in the United States without a VISA sponsorship.

Department/College Description RIT Dining supports all meal plans both on campus and at select off‑campus locations. We look for a high‑energy team member who enjoys working in a busy environment serving customers. The successful candidate will be able to work with our student workforce, which may include deaf/hard‑of‑hearing and international students. Hours will change for breaks, intersession and summer semesters. This position may support serving from 1500 to over 3000 customers in any one location on a daily basis.
