Extension EFNEP Educator (Program Assistant)
Job Location: Dobson, NC.
Position type: Full‑time, 12‑month recurring, FTE 0.75.
Department: NC Cooperative Extension, Surry Center.
Position Overview Extension EFNEP Educator is an employee of NC Cooperative Extension, NC State University. Under the supervision of the County Extension Director with guidance from the District EFNEP Extension Associate, the EFNEP Educator delivers nutrition and related subject matter to enrolled participants.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Recruit and enroll adults and families; conduct nutrition education in homes or group settings.
Teach basic principles of nutrition and food preparation skills.
Submit required program records and reports to RNEA, EFNEP state office and County Extension Director.
Market the program within the assigned area and recruit volunteers.
Collaborate with local Extension staff, agencies, and partners to secure program resources.
Travel within the county, district, and state using a personal vehicle.
Maintain confidentiality of program information.
Coordinate with collaborating agencies to extend outreach.
Promote educational opportunities beyond EFNEP within Cooperative Extension and partnering agencies.
Participate in professional development trainings and EFNEP meetings.
Qualifications
High‑school diploma or equivalent; additional education or experience in nutrition, dietetics, or related field preferred.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license and reliable personal transportation; valid driver’s license within 60 days of hire.
Ability to communicate and teach effectively; organize, collect data, meet deadlines.
Ability to build partnerships and engage the community.
Preferred bilingual–fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
Knowledge of community and social service programs for limited‑resource families.
Experience teaching and/or working with limited‑resource adults; nutrition education experience.
