Position Summary The Kiln and Glaze Associate is responsible for working in both the Glaze and Kiln areas. The Kiln and Glaze Associate applies wax and glaze to bisque pieces in preparation for movement to decorating areas and to load and unload kilns. In addition to these tasks, the Kiln and Glaze Associate is responsible to communicate production needs and priorities with the lead and/or supervisor on a daily basis, stage products on racks, scan tags and labor into NetSuite for tracking purposes, and to maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
35% Apply wax and glaze to ceramic pieces efficiently and in compliance with the company's high-quality specifications and standards.
20% Correctly program, load, and unload pottery from kilns in an efficient and timely manner to meet production schedules.
10% Communicate production needs/priorities with lead and/or supervisor daily.
10% Notify supervisor and/or lead of materials needed for re-order (i.e., cones, kiln furniture, etc.) to maintain optimum inventory levels and on-going business operations.
10% Scan tags/labor into computer system for labor costing and tracking purposes.
10% Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.
5% Stage products on racks.
Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED
Salary $17.50/hr
Location Aurora, NY
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to use hand tools applicable to trade.
Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
Attention to detail.

Wax machine, kilns, racks and carts
Safety Equipment
Safety shoes, glasses, gloves, respirator, and mask
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, lift, crouch, kneel, bend, use fingers to grasp, handle, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Close mental and visual attention required for controlling machines or processes to obtain physical qualities of product.
Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set‑ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.
Environmental Conditions The worker is subject to dust and exposure to extensive burns from hot wax and working around kilns.
