Position Title
Electrical Foreman
Location
Javits Center, 11th Avenue between West 34th and West 40th Streets, Manhattan, New York City
Position Summary
The Electrical Foreman assists with the inspection, installation, scheduling, calibration, testing, repairs and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment for the interior and exterior of the Javits Center buildings. The role includes managing, scheduling and supervising staff, contractors and electrical projects, and coordinating energy management efforts.
Essential Functions
Install, diagnose and repair high, medium and low voltage electrical power distribution systems, including IT infrastructure (CAT 6, fiber, CCTV) and automated controls. Test and repair HVAC, elevator, escalator, generator, and mechanical equipment; manage BACnet, fiber, VFD and building automation integration. Diagnose, calibrate and tune systems for energy consumption and system responsiveness. Generate, document and share technical data, drawings, system specifications and energy reports. Maintain life safety systems (fire alarm, smoke controls, sprinkler electrical components). Provide on‑site staff training in automated control operations. Perform equipment maintenance for Siemens DESIGO, Building X, Digital Twin, fire alarm and ARC systems. Document scheduling, material takeoffs, and energy trend reports. Support Local 3 CBA agreement and Javits Center policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred: New York licensed electrician or electrical engineer. 10+ years of experience with NEC, NFPA, DOB, NYS, DASNY, FDNY, NYC building electrical codes. Full OSHA, LOTO and ARC Flash safety knowledge. Local 3 Classification “A” – Journeyman / Wireman. Inventory control, FIFO and Just‑in‑Time ordering experience. Experience managing PLC, ASCO PMS and electrical sequence of operations controls. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, NetSuite, graphics navigation software, CMMS). Ability to work under time constraints, multi‑task and analyze problems quickly.
Special Conditions of Position
Valid driver’s license and technical certifications required. Required flexibility for evening, weekend and holiday coverage. Work at high elevations using scissor lifts, boom lifts and scaffolds. Lift 50 lbs regularly and 35 lbs constantly. Stand and walk for extended periods. Exposure to indoor and outdoor work and extreme weather conditions.
