Essential Functions
Provide flight, simulator and oral instruction in accordance with AU Professional Flight and FAA procedures.
Maintain schedules, records, and ensure student progress meets course objectives.
Promote a safety culture, report safety concerns, and assist in maintaining aircraft airworthiness.
Schedule students for lessons, make‑ups, and additional availability.
Perform duties as a certificated flight instructor under FAA-approved Training Course Outlines:
Schedule students for satisfactory progress and inform Assistant Chief Flight Instructor of delays.
Maintain accurate training records and logbooks.
Prepare students for Stage Checks, End‑of‑Course Tests, and FAA Practical Tests.
Ensure timely course completion and required documentation.
Monitor aircraft condition and file safety reports as needed.
Attend administrative, standardization, currency training, and instructor meetings.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Some college; vocational or Associate’s degree.
Current FAA Flight Instructor certificate with Airplane Single‑Engine and Instrument ratings.
Current Third Class FAA Medical Certificate.
Demonstrated piloting proficiency and instructing ability during initial standardization training.
Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment and make proper aeronautical decisions.
