Systems Engineer – Aircraft Systems
Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to provide full lifecycle systems engineering, integration, and test leadership in support of unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft systems. The successful candidate will quickly become an expert on our aircraft systems and play a key role in system design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting. This position involves close collaboration with internal teams, leadership, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop subsystem and system‑level test plans and reports.
Lead and conduct various types of testing, including:
Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HWIL)
Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SWIL)
Avionics, subsystem, and aircraft‑level testing.
Drive root cause corrective action (RCCA) investigations and resolve issues through analysis and hands‑on testing.
Collaborate with Software Engineering to define software system requirements and test requirements.
Support flight test planning, aircraft preparation, and execution at government test ranges.
Develop system architectures for new and existing systems.
Conduct trade studies and design research to determine optimal requirements and system architecture.
Create system/subsystem interface definitions, schematics, and design documentation; perform peer reviews.
Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of engineered systems and software to ensure compliance with specifications and customer requirements.
Lead or support System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR), including Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
Travel to customer or test site locations as needed (up to 25% or more at times).
Required Experience & Skills
Strong analytical abilities and excellent communication skills.
Demonstrated technical leadership capabilities.
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Results‑oriented with a sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
Experience in the Defense and/or Aerospace industry.
Hands‑on integration and test experience with aircraft systems and/or subsystems.
Knowledge of testing best practices, including:
Managing test configurations.
Adhering to safety and training procedures.
Organizing data collection and analysis.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $95.00/hr.
