Position Overview Opening and Closing Dates: 18 December 2025–15 January 2026. Position Title: Civil Engineer, 0810-12, (12297). Duty Location(s): Jacksonville, FL.
Duties
Evaluate applicable engineering regulations and criteria and decide how these criteria are applied, including analysis of value engineering proposals, submittal reviews, field inspections, equipment witness and acceptance tests.
Conduct technical evaluation of Requests for Information (RFIs) and construction problems; and assist with contractor and other claims.
Supervise the development of structural designs, which includes preparation of analyses and project documents and reports.
Work is primarily for facilities such as large volume pumping stations, dams, spillways, navigation locks, bridges, concrete dams, flood control channels, and other water resource projects.
Provide engineering expertise as needed to resolve design and construction related problems.
Utilize structural engineering software to perform finite element modeling. Incorporate in the design the requirements of ACI, ASCE, AASHTO, USACE Engineering Manuals, IBC, and etc.
Other Conditions And Requirements This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Relocation (PCS) expenses may be authorized (subject to available budget) if the selecting official determines the relocation is in the best interests of the government.

Professional Engineer: The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain license/registration as a Professional Engineer. This license/registration must be in good standing and issued by any one of the 50 states or its territories.
