role at
GKN Automotive . A day in the life
You start the morning on the shop floor, reviewing overnight machining data and First Time Through (FTF) metrics. A quick huddle with operators and quality engineers reveals a chance to tighten a CNC cycle and eliminate a minor source of scrap. By mid‑morning you’re collaborating with design engineering to tweak a feature for easier manufacturability. After lunch, you finalize PPAP documentation for a new driveline component, validate measurement methods, and confirm supplier readiness. You close the day updating the project schedule and budget, capturing lessons learned, and planning tomorrow’s kaizen. The impact you’ll make
Engineer and optimize manufacturing systems, tooling, and CNC equipment to boost throughput and quality Own FTF measurement methodology and support PPAP submissions with robust documentation Partner with product design to enhance manufacturability and reduce cost without compromising performance Lead inspections, root‑cause investigations, and recommend actionable engineering improvements Analyze production data to cut waste, shorten cycle times, and stabilize processes Coordinate small‑scale projects, aligning suppliers and subcontractors to timelines and budgets Champion safety, health, and environmental standards across every change Mentor peers, share know‑how, and cultivate continuous learning What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent 5–6 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering Proven background in design, development, and specification of processes/equipment Hands‑on experience with project scheduling, cost estimating, and budgeting Preferred
Direct CNC machining process expertise Lean manufacturing experience and change management capability Strong data analysis and process optimization skills Supplier and subcontractor coordination exposure Technical proficiencies
