The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining vehicle/equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. The position works under the direction of the Fleet Manager and is accountable for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining production and facility vehicle/equipment to support daily work activities while maintaining safety objectives and company processes. Available to work Saturdays as needed with 8‑10 hour shifts. Essential Job Functions
Work with construction vehicle/equipment. Determine vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts. Keep vehicle/equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures. Correct deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, parts, or systems such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; complete machine shop operations; make adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units. Verify performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems. Comply with federal and state requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards. Maintain appearance by cleaning, washing and painting. Maintain records by annotating services and repairs. Keep shop operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options. Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Desired Qualifications
Willing to travel to branch locations as needed using company service truck; occasional overnight stays. ASE Certified preferred but not mandatory. Electrical and drivability diagnostic experience required. 1–3 years of mechanic experience with diesel and gas engines for on‑highway vehicles. Light/Medium/Heavy Duty Vehicle & Trailer Repair Experience required. Off‑Highway equipment experience (front‑end loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, forklifts). Experience performing Annual Federal DOT Inspections. Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory. Benefits

Operating hand/power tools; manual dexterity; physical agility for repetitive arm, leg, hand use. Working outdoors in adverse conditions with high traffic, heavy equipment, fuel fumes, construction substances. Comfortable around moving vehicles; constant awareness of surroundings on construction sites. Adequate vision for seeing moving vehicles and reading construction materials. Adequate hearing for approaching vehicles and communication. Clear written and verbal communication; complete daily paperwork. Flexible schedule, including day/night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime; work individually and as a team. Valid driver’s license; MVR and controlled substance test; background and criminal record check; knowledge of local driving rules. Maintain company standards for background, criminal record, driving record, and drug testing post‑employment. Computer literacy. Ability to create accountability and lead by example.
