Fleet Mechanic Join the successful team at Numericable. The Fleet Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining vehicle/equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting deficiencies, adjusting and aligning, and keeping records. The role works under the direction of the Fleet Manager and ensures safety and company processes. Special Note: Available to work Saturdays as needed/8-10-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

Ability to work on construction vehicle/equipment.

Determine vehicle/equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts.

Keep vehicle/equipment available by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.

Correct deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.

Verify vehicle/equipment performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.

Comply with federal and state vehicle/equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.

Maintain vehicle/equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.

Maintain vehicle/equipment records by annotating services and repairs.

Keep shop vehicle/equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

Contain costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.

Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

Qualifications

Willing to travel to different branch locations as needed using company provided service truck; may require occasional overnight stay.

ASE Certified preferred but not mandatory.

Electrical and drivability diagnostic experience required.

1-3 years of mechanic experience with diesel and gas engines for on-highway vehicles.

Light/Medium/Heavy Duty Vehicle & Trailer Repair Experience required.

Off-Highway equipment experience such as front-end loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, forklifts.

Experience in performing Annual Federal DOT Inspections.

Class A CDL preferred but not mandatory.

Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day, standing, walking, loading and unloading equipment, lifting a minimum of 50 pounds.

Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds.

Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity, use of keyboards and smartphones.

Working outdoors under adverse environmental and weather conditions.

Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones.

Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans.

Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, commands.

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Flexible schedule can include day/night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime.

Valid driver's license required; must pass MVR and controlled substance test; background and criminal record check.

Computer literacy.

Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.

High School Diploma or Equivalent.
