Journeyman Ironworker – Job Description A Journeyman Ironworker performs skilled ironwork in accordance with project plans, safety standards, and structural requirements. Responsibilities include installation, fabrication, rigging, and ensuring work meets all quality and code requirements. Install and connect structural steel components, beams, columns, and bracing. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications. Operate tools and equipment including welders, torches, hoists, and rigging gear. Place and secure metal decking, rebar, and other structural materials. Work safely at elevated heights while maintaining fall protection standards. Perform precise measurements, layout work, and material alignment. Collaborate with foremen, general contractors, and other trades on project tasks. Ensure all work complies with safety protocols, building codes, and quality standards. Complete tasks independently with journeyman-level skill and craftsmanship.
