Electrical Estimator

– EIG Electrical Systems – Part of the Evergreen Innovation Group, part of the DPR Family of Companies.

Job Description We're seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with a minimum of 5 years in commercial construction projects.

Estimators will work primarily on negotiated electrical commercial projects within core markets: healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life sciences, and commercial.

They will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors to significantly impact project success and fulfill our mission.

Responsibilities

Understand and align with the vision and mission of EIG.

Handle projects from initial estimate through handoff.

Look beyond given information to ask the right questions and provide a comprehensive cost evaluation.

Advocate for customers, empowering and informing them throughout the project.

Innovatively solve complex cost, lead‑time, trade partner, or product/material issues.

Make reliable cost predictions across all scopes of work.

Prepare detailed conceptual cost estimates and studies from schematic and feasibility level documentation.

Develop variance summaries between estimates and value‑engineering studies as designs evolve.

Create complete estimate presentation packages that clearly communicate project cost.

Collaborate with project teams to establish staffing and requirements.

Apply unit cost knowledge and understand factors affecting construction cost.

Prepare detailed bidding instructions, trade clarifications, and bid packages.

Lead bid solicitation, evaluation, and subcontractor recommendation.

Present cost and budget information to customers/owners.

Participate in RFP responses and formal project presentations.

Engage and develop business with new and existing customers.

Actively participate in Value Engineering sessions with project and design teams.

Required Skills and Abilities

Detail‑oriented team player managing multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Creative and innovative problem‑solving on a project‑by‑project basis.

Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues.

Effective participation in team environments, both internal and external.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; estimating software (WinEst, Timberline, etc.); take‑off software (Accubid Livecount, etc.); BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.); project management software (CMiC, etc.); scheduling software (Primavera, etc.).

Education and Experience

5+ years of experience as an Electrical Commercial Construction Estimator, preferably within DPR core markets.

Bachelor’s degree – a plus, but not required.

Field experience – a plus, but not required.

Experience with Design/Build and Design/Assist projects – a plus.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Travel to and from the office as well as assigned job sites.
