Production Planner – Danfoss
Location: Ames, IA
Overview Now is a great time to join our team in Ames! We are seeking an experienced Production Planner responsible for working cross‑functionally to set up and maintain realistic production plans based on the forecast, supply chain, engineering, sales, and operations execution capabilities, and then communicating that plan to all stakeholders.
The planner’s primary role is to proactively satisfy internal & external customer demand in an efficient and timely manner while monitoring all key KPIs. The focus is on the future, taking control of the orders to be executed, monitoring the forecast and order activity over the planning horizon, and communicating the realistic production plan to all stakeholders without supervision approval.
What You’ll Be Doing
Release new production orders maintaining 24–48 hours released to the floor
Maintain front‑end assembly schedules by removing completed and adding new orders
Manage upcoming scheduling issues through communication with procurement and operations
Review schedule ensuring the previous day’s plan (5–6 weeks into the future) is still intact
Work schedule changes within lead time with Operations, Order Fulfillment and procurement
Maintain engineering requests by closely monitoring implementation dates
Communicate issues proactively so the organization can react in time
Meet customer and internal KPIs or understand and communicate barriers proactively
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Safety, Quality, Order Fulfillment, Finance, and procurement to ensure plans are fulfilled as scheduled
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or 4 years of professional planning/supply‑chain experience in lieu of a degree
Experience with SAP or ERP systems is preferred
Proven problem‑solving and excellent customer‑service skills
Strong decision‑making skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
