Job Description
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the monthly general ledger close and preparing accurate financial statements, including detailed account analyses and reconciliations. This role supports senior leadership by delivering timely and reliable financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities include:
Lead the month-end close process, including payroll postings, accounts receivable activity, accruals, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
Perform general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations
Maintain comprehensive balance sheet workpapers, ensuring all journal entries are fully supported with appropriate documentation
Apply accounting standards to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial statements
Prepare financial notes and narratives explaining month-end results and variances
Produce balance sheet, income statement, and supplemental reports to analyze and communicate the company’s financial position
Monitor internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
Review, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, errors, and inconsistencies in financial records and third-party reports
Gather and analyze data required for federal, state, and local reporting and tax filings
Prepare quarterly and annual payroll reconciliations
Respond to audit requests and support internal and external audit activities
