About the Department The Department of Finance, Financial Planning, and Insurance offers a comprehensive curriculum, including a Bachelor of Science with specializations in Financial Analysis, Financial Planning, and Risk Management and Insurance, and an MBA program. The department serves close to 1,000 students and supports student engagement through initiatives such as the FMA‑CSUN chapter and underwriting student‑centered investment funds. We have 11 full‑time tenure‑track faculty members dedicated to advancing research and delivering a comprehensive curriculum. Position The Department of Finance, Financial Planning and Insurance at CSUN is seeking two tenure‑track faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach finance courses and conduct research in finance or related fields. The role requires an ongoing program of scholarship, adherence to AACSB’s admission criterion of ‘Scholarly Academic’, weekly office hours, participation in faculty meetings, student learning assessment, and service to the department, college, and university. Commitment to equitable academic outcomes for all students will be essential.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Finance, Financial Economics, or related field from an accredited institution

Evidence of, or clear potential for, conducting and publishing original research in finance

Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in university‑level teaching (in‑person and online) in investment, corporate finance, and finance electives

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of, or clear potential for, impactful research in finance

Evidence of effective engagement or potential to engage with a diverse student body

Experience or potential for using culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students

Experience or potential for creating a student‑centered learning environment

Application Deadline Preferred application deadline is September 26, 2025, but applications received after this date will still be considered on an as‑needed basis. The position will remain open until filled. Initial on‑site interviews will be conducted at the upcoming FMA Annual Meeting in October 2025 in Vancouver, BC. A Zoom option is available for those not attending FMA. Potential candidates will be invited for campus visits thereafter.
