Responsibilities The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day functions of accounting including month‑end and year‑end close, internal and external financial reporting, audit, and lease accounting. The role is instrumental in the development of accounting policies and position papers for significant/material transactions, as well as drafting the audited financial statements and memos. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller in supporting the growth of the Company through process improvement initiatives, implementation, and oversight of internal controls.

Essential Functions

Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close process to ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial results.

Prepare the financial statements, including consolidation of multiple entities and multiple clinic locations.

Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports and analysis.

Manage all aspects of the general ledger.

Manage the review and approval of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses, ensuring that controls are maintained and variances are resolved timely.

Drive continuous improvement and streamlining of close‑related processes and timelines.

Prepare, review, and ensure accuracy of GAAP‑compliant financial statements, footnotes, and management reporting packages.

Support the preparation of quarterly and annual board reporting and any required lender or investor reports.

Maintain a deep understanding of US GAAP, including monitoring and implementing new accounting standards relevant to the healthcare industry.

Advise management of trends and changes in reporting requirements.

Research and document technical accounting matters such as revenue recognition, leases, acquisitions, variable interest entity & consolidation, and other complex transactions.

Develop, update, and enforce accounting policies and procedures across the enterprise.

Oversee all aspects of accounting and forecasting for equity, including share‑based compensation, basic and diluted weighted average shares outstanding, treasury stock, noncontrolling interest.

Coordinate with cross‑functional groups within the company including Accounting, Investor Relations, Tax, Legal, FP&A, and Operations to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information.

Manage lease accounting, ensuring that leases are tracked accurately, rent, taxes and insurance are paid correctly, and accounting is in accordance with GAAP.

Support the execution of special projects as required.

Optimize the ERP system and other technologies for process improvement.

Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and technical accounting transactions to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on disclosures and reporting issues.

Oversee the execution of internal controls related to external reporting and technical accounting.

Identify process improvements and assist in the implementation of related processes and controls.

Identify improvements that will positively impact corporate success and fully comply with objectives and regulations.

Write, implement, and ensure effective and practical implementation of corporate accounting policies and internal controls.

Partner with internal and external parties regarding financial policy, procedure, audit, and control related efforts.

Recognize strong individual and team performance in support of our values and company goals.

Interview candidates for positions that report to the Assistant Controller as necessary.

Oversee training for positions that report to the Assistant Controller.

Oversee performance and any related counseling of positions that report to the Assistant Controller, up to and including recommendation for termination of employment.

Complete all mandatory compliance training to learn the aspects of compliance in the company.

Maintain friendly, cordial relations with all clients and employees; create a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters constructive relationships.

Perform physical, cognitive, and sensory functions required by the position as specified in the physical demands section.

Non‑Essential Functions

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.

MBA or Master of Accountancy preferred.

CPA Certification required.

Experience

Public Accounting Experience required; Big 4 firm experience preferred (preferably 3–5 years with demonstrated advancement).

At least 5 years of management experience required.

Healthcare experience required.

Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables, required.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Analytical and critical thinking required.

Experience analyzing financial statements and reports required.
